About Tapestry
Tapestry is Alphabet’s moonshot for the electric grid, working at the frontier where energy’s complexity meets AI’s potential. We were born at X, the innovation lab responsible for breakthrough technologies like Waymo, Verily and Google Brain.
To keep pace with humanity’s growing energy needs, the world needs a grid that is visible and understandable. We provide that clarity by building advanced, AI-enabled analytical and planning tools that allow the entire energy ecosystem to plan smarter, move faster, and operate more efficiently—ensuring electricity remains reliable and affordable for everyone.
This is a global effort. Tapestry is proud to support partners in the U.S., U.K., Chile, New Zealand, Australia and Brazil as they build a cleaner, more resilient energy future.
Joining Tapestry allows you to do the best work of your life as part of a multidisciplinary team of experts in AI, energy systems, software engineering and product design—all collaborating to reshape energy on a global scale. If you want to tackle problems that matter and build tools with real impact, we would love to meet you. Learn more about our team and our mission here.
About the role
As Chief of Staff at Tapestry, you will collaborate closely with the Tapestry leadership team to help our global organization grow and operate effectively during this critical phase of scaling from ideation to commercialization. You will be a thought partner to executive leadership, ensuring they are adequately briefed for major internal and external discussions with utility partners, regulators, and other energy leaders. You will serve as a proxy by participating in cross-functional discussions on behalf of the business to scope new projects and partnerships. You will drive team programming to share information, drive alignment on critical decisions, and build community among our globally-distributed teams. You will effortlessly flex between framing the team's long-term mission in the context of the energy transition, and program-managing the rhythm of the business as we continue to scale our impact on the world's electric grids.
At Tapestry, we explore new ideas, solve real problems that affect billions of people, and work at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and world-changing impact. Tapestry operates at the nexus of AI, energy systems, and climate technology—tackling one of humanity's most critical infrastructure challenges.
How you will make 10x impact:
- Design and facilitate leadership forums for the Tapestry leadership team, including weekly leadership meetings, off-sites, and all-hands, ensuring focused discussion, effective use of leadership time, and clear decision-making
- Advise executive leadership in preparation for internal meetings and external engagements (with utility partners, grid operators, regulators, and industry stakeholders), including creating and reviewing meeting materials
- Support the creation of and serve as the primary point of coordination for the Tapestry Advisory Board
- Represent executive leadership in cross-functional discussions as needed, helping align teams on priorities informed by moonshot goals and organizational considerations
- Lead operational and strategic projects in response to emerging business needs, including early-stage scoping of new initiatives with product, engineering, partnerships, and go-to-market teams
- Develop narratives and executive-ready materials to support leadership reviews, alignment, and decision-making
- Partner with the People team and Communications to craft and deliver internal communications that are clear, timely, and aligned with organizational goals
- Identify challenges and opportunities across the organization and help design programs or processes to address them, influencing cross-functional teams to bring solutions to life
- Support leadership efforts to engage effectively with utilities, grid operators, and energy stakeholders worldwide
What you should have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 6 years of experience in management consulting, sales operations, business strategy, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, or corporate advisory, or 4 years of experience with an advanced degree
- Experience in energy, utilities, climate tech, or infrastructure sectors preferred
It’d be great if you had these:
- Experience in a Chief of Staff or Strategy and Operations role, or a similar role requiring leadership of varied operational initiatives while working closely with executive leaders
- Experience with projects, cross-functional stakeholder management (including internationally distributed teams across time zones), and project management, including the ability to work autonomously and keep multiple priorities moving at the same time
- Ability to understand and articulate the big picture while maintaining strong attention to execution and detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
