About the role

We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented and strategic policy professional to execute Tapestry’s public policy strategy and efforts.

You will work with internal teams and external stakeholders to set and advance Tapestry's global public policy priorities. You will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, prioritizing across and managing relevant legislative and public policy issues, and proactively engaging with a wide variety of outside stakeholders – from state and Federal legislative offices in the U.S. to advocacy groups, academics, and stakeholder organizations in any priority Tapestry market – to educate them about Tapestry’s platform and influence policy impacting the company and its products.

This individual will initially operate as a one-person public policy team, responsible for both high-level strategy and tactical execution. The ideal candidate enjoys rolling up their own sleeves to do the work, possessing strong judgment, an ownership mindset, deep domain-expertise in energy policy, the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, highly fluid and resource-constrained environment, and a proven track record of working collaboratively and creatively with cross-functional d teams and (as necessary) outside consultants and advisors.

This role will report into the company’s head of communications and public affairs.

How you’ll make 10x impact:

  • Craft and implement comprehensive, compelling, and creative public policy strategies, working collaboratively with Tapestry’s leadership.
  • Monitor and analyze policy trends, legislative proposals, and regulatory issues that impact Tapestry, particularly those in the energy and AI sectors.
  • Craft clear and compelling narratives and messaging to communicate Tapestry's positions on policy issues, translating complex concepts into accessible language.
  • Advise internal teams on the policy implications of new products and services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, trade associations, non-profit and advocacy groups, academics, and other key stakeholders to promote and build support for Tapestry’s policy positions.
  • Drive successful policy outcomes in any political climate, capitalizing on Tapestry’s compelling product value for all grid participants.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholder organizations and state and Federal legislative offices to educate them on Tapestry’s platform and influence policy.
  • Serve as a liaison to Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team, ensuring our work is aligned with Google's broader public policy efforts, including in international markets.

What you should have:

  • At least 10 years of experience working directly on energy or utilities public policy. This may be within government, think tanks, public interest groups, relevant industry associations or within in-house tech public policy teams.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a relevant discipline (political science, public policy, law etc.)
  • Deep understanding of legislative and policymaking processes, and an awareness of energy and AI stakeholders and influencers.
  • Strong track record of managing multiple projects with competing deadlines in a dynamic environment – preferably in a startup or high-growth environment where you’ve had to do more with less.
  • Proven experience in working collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams, including communications, legal, product, and engineering.
  • Strong history of building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to analyze complex issues, develop actionable recommendations and creatively solve problems as they arise.
  • Experience managing outside consultants and advisors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex policy issues and technical concepts into clear and concise messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Some domestic and international travel are required.

It would be great if you had these:

  • A Masters degree in public policy or relevant field.
  • Experience in government relations, political campaigns and strategy, public outreach, and third-party coalition building.
  • Familiarity with the structure and operations of energy-related advocacy organizations or government bodies.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
