Program ManagementMountain View, CA (HQ)
The Role:
We are seeking an exceptional and deeply technical AI/ML Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our dynamic R&D team. You are the crucial link between groundbreaking research, efficient operations, and strategic data acquisition, acting as the central "glue" for our team. You possess a strong passion for AI/ML, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), and thrive on enabling research teams to operate at peak efficiency.
You will drive the end-to-end execution of complex AI/ML projects, facilitate seamless internal and external collaborations, implement robust engineering and operational practices, and manage strategic data partnerships. This unique role involves not only managing specific projects but also enhancing the overall effectiveness, knowledge sharing, and strategy of the entire R&D team. You will be instrumental in shaping how cutting-edge AI innovations transition from concept to impactful prototypes and operational reality within a leading R&D environment.
How you will make 10X Impact:
- Program Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, tracking, and delivery of multiple, complex, cross-functional AI/ML projects from ideation through research, prototyping, and operational readiness. Act as the central coordinator for the team. Improve visibility into ongoing work, identify bottlenecks, and proactively implement processes and tools to enhance overall team velocity, efficiency, and collaboration.
- Process Optimization: Establish and champion best practices for MLOps, ensuring reproducibility, scalability, reliability, and maintainability of ML systems developed in the lab.
- Data Strategy Assessment: Collaborate closely with AI/ML researchers, data scientists, and R&D leadership to deeply understand current and future data requirements for key strategic initiatives. Proactively research, identify, and map potential external data partners and sources relevant to the lab's focus areas.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies effectively to diverse stakeholders, including research teams, engineering leads, senior management, and external partners.
- Central Tech Management: Coordinate operations and usage of our central compute resources, GPU compute cluster, and supporting AI tools
What you should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Technical Project Management, or a related role.
- 3+ years of experience specifically managing AI/ML projects.
- Strong understanding and 2+ years of experience working with transformers and LLMs
- Proven, hands-on experience with MLOps principles, practices, and tooling.
- Strong understanding of the machine learning development lifecycle.
- Experience working with GCP
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects, balance competing priorities, and navigate ambiguity.
It’d be great if you also had these:
- Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Direct experience implementing and managing MLOps platforms/tools such as Vertex AI, Weight and Biases, etc.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
- Proficiency in Python and common ML libraries/frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, HuggingFace).
- Experience working within an R&D or advanced technology development environment.
- Understanding of data engineering concepts and ETL pipelines relevant to ML
