About the team:

Tapestry, is X’s moonshot for the electric grid.  We are a team of software engineers, power systems experts and clean energy geeks  who are  impatient to tackle climate change head on through our energy system. Tapestry is on a mission to make the world’s electric grid visible so everyone, everywhere can access clean, affordable and  reliable energy. We are working with partners around the world to create AI powered  tools that will help everyone who works with the grid build and manage a carbon-free and secure electricity system.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a talented power systems simulation and computational specialist to help us expand our grid simulation capability. In this role you will...

  • Optimize codes and algorithms to take full advantage of powerful, modern computer hardware.
  • Work with power system experts on the design and creation of advanced simulation software to enhance simulation speed and accuracy.

 

What you should have: 

  • Graduate students currently pursuing a PhD in a STEM field (such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field) with a strong interest in simulations.
  • Experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, or C/C++.
  • Understanding of numerical methods, including solving nonlinear/linear differential equations, differentiation and integration, systems of equations, and time discretization.
  • Expertise in Power Electronics, Power Systems theory, and related simulation tools.

 

It’d be great if you also had these: 

  • Experience conducting power system planning and interconnection studies.
  • Have familiarity with hardware and processor architectures.
  • Are a skilled and efficient programmer in scientific programming languages (e.g, JAX, C++, Julia, etc.) with a desire to expand into new areas of coding languages and processes.

The US base salary range for this position is $109,000 - $145,000 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
