How you will make 10x impact:
This project aims to push the limits of science and modeling as we know them and to prove how ML can radically accelerate our understanding of the world
- Location: X's headquarters in Mountain View, CA
- Start Date(s): Year-round rolling basis
- Duration: a flexible 4 mo. to 1 year program based on project team needs and your availability
Throughout your AI Residency you can expect:
- To be embedded into one of our confidential or public X projects
- To get paid competitively and receive benefits
- To be a part of a lively community of AI and ML Residents
- To attend tech-talks with AI leaders from across X
About the team:
Bellwether is focused on using large amounts of geospatial data to better understand and predict environmental patterns including severe weather risk for events like wildfires. We also leverage data to help organizations post-natural disaster by helping identify important assets across the landscape, such as critical infrastructure. We are a small but very industrious team that is both exploring new areas with our technology and pushing out live production code for customers to accelerate our learnings and roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Write python code for a scalable backend system to process geo data.
- Extend and implement machine learning models in development and production
- Design and write python code for monitoring the backend systems
- Work alongside the team in new experiments at the intersection of geospatial and ML
What you should have:
- Experience with one or more common software design patterns (for example, Observer, Decorator, Visitor, Producer/Consumer, etc)
- Currently enrolled in a Masters or Phd program in a STEM field such as CS, Physics, Chemistry, Neuroscience or Mathematics/Statistics with a strong interest in backend systems and scalable architectures.
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to Python
- Experience with open source tools such as git, terraform, Google Compute Engine, Amazon Web Services, etc.
It’d be great if you also had these:
- Experience with distributed, scalable systems and backends
- Experience with tiffs and tiff projections into physical spaces (aka GeoTiff)
- Experience with geospatial data
