About the team:

Project Taara is focused on delivering high-throughput and long-range connectivity via free-space optical communication (FSOC) links that use light (eye-safe lasers) propagating between two terminals to wirelessly transmit high speed data.  Learn more about Project Taara.

 

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager to join our growing team. As the founding member of our Finance team and the sole operator initially, you will play a critical role in managing our financial planning, analysis and operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations,  and ensuring our continued growth and success. You will report directly to XX and much of your work will be  cross-functional.

 

How you will make 10x impact:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making.
    • Prepare annual budgets and forecasts, and track performance against them.
    • Analyze financial data and provide insights to management.
    • Build reports and visualizations to easily interpret financial data, and generate actionable insights from diverse data sets to build consensus among leadership and stakeholders.
    • Model business scenarios, track performance metrics, and identify levers and risks to support strategic financial decisions.
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of financial processes and systems.
  • Accounting, Reporting and Controllership:
    • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Manage relationships with external auditors.
    • Drive accounting, controls and reporting efficiency improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Cash Management and Finance Operations:
    • Monitor cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity.
    • Manage banking relationships and optimize cash management processes.
    • Oversee all purchasing and invoicing processes including related procurement/billing systems and polices
  • Fundraising and Investor Relations:
    • Support fundraising efforts by preparing financial data and presentations for investors.
    • Manage relationships with existing investors.

 

What you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Finance, with at least 2+ years in a startup environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience with financial modeling and analysis, including proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with purchasing and invoicing.
  • Proven track record leading financial close processes, governance and thought leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in building accounting & compliance processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with proven ability to influence across the company.
  • Thrive on ambiguity, setting own goals and effectively delivering to them in a very fast-changing environment.
  • Ability to build business models from the ground up, and to extract insights from data and present it to a senior audience effectively.

 

It would be great if you also had these:

  • CPA or CA and strong working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Telecom experience
  • Experience with hardware products
  • Experience with international suppliers and locations
  • Experience in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Accounting, Consulting, Data Modeling, Corporate Strategy, Business Operations or other Finance functions
  • Working knowledge of capital allocation, corporate finance, financial accounting, managerial accounting and cost accounting principles (e.g., capitalization, CapEx, balance sheet inventory, analyzing assets and understanding accruals)

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $159,000 - $225,000 + bonuses + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
