DURING YOUR INTERNSHIP YOU CAN EXPECT:

DETAILS:

  • Location: X's headquarters in Mountain View, CA
  • Start Date(s): Year-round rolling basis
  • Duration: a flexible 4 mo. to 1 year program based on project team needs and your availability

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be enrolled in an academic program and working towards completing a PhD degree

WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON:

  • Develop Photonics lab automation framework
  • Optimize grating couplers for Free space optical communications.
    • Optimize sub 1dB grating coupler emitters
  • Help us review the project team's layout and simulation automation frameworks
  • Develop data analysis framework for analyzing experiments
  • Build photonic models for the components based on measurements and simulations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven track record of contributions to relevant projects to open source projects
    • Lab automation
    • Simulation: FDTD (Meep or equivalent), EME, mode solver
    • Scripted layout
  • Python, GIT, optimization
  • Main developer, author, maintainer of at least one relevant open source project

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Open-source projects that demonstrate relevant skills.
  • Please submit GitHub / Gitlab profiles and links to the contributions to the relevant projects for your application to be considered

The US base salary range for this role is between $103,000 - $127,000 + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
