DURING YOUR INTERNSHIP YOU CAN EXPECT:

- Location: X's headquarters in Mountain View, CA
- Start Date(s): Year-round rolling basis
- Duration: a flexible 4 mo. to 1 year program based on project team needs and your availability
- Must be enrolled in an academic program and working towards completing a PhD degree
WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON:
- Collaborating with the X Project team to apply machine vision to the project's mission
- Understanding the project’s challenges
- Suggesting a number of ways in which machine can apply to those challenges
- Prototyping machine vision pipeline solutions
- Work closely with team members in the sensing and simulation space to inform hardware and optimization efforts
- Engaging with the Intern community during the program, engaging with the X community, attending colloquia and tech talks.
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in a STEM field such as CS, Physics, Engineering or Mathematics/Statistics with a strong interest in machine learning and computer vision.
- Experience with image processing (segmentation, edge detection, filtering, object recognition, depth sensing etc.) with OpenCV.
- Familiar with 3D computer vision algorithms or applications such as Neural Radiance Field and Stable View Synthesis
- Experience with preprocessing raw and imperfect data, curating datasets for custom ML tasks, and creating computer vision pipelines.
- Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages such as Python, C/C++ etc.
- Strong interest in rapid prototyping and physical experimentation.
- Open-source projects that demonstrate relevant skills and/or publications in relevant conferences and journals (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICASSP).
- Experience with computational geometry, 3d reconstruction, point cloud processing, mesh processing and volume rendering.
- Experience with machine vision (e.g., manipulation of light sources, optics, CMOS/CCD sensors, etc.).
- Experience with sparse image input, statistical computing, and/or working with noisy datasets.
- Experience with sensor fusion combining multiple data sources from stereo camera, depth sensor, LiDAR, etc.
The US base salary range for this role is between $103,000 - $127,000 + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
