Our mission is to build learning robots that help people everyday and everywhere live better lives. We believe there are many problems in the world in which robotics could play a significant role in making it easier, faster and safer for people to get things done. We are the Everyday Robot Project at X, a true moonshot that brings together people with varied skill sets and backgrounds to build a future where robots can be as helpful to people in the physical world as computers now are in the virtual world. Creating robots that can learn in different ways involves navigating some of the hardest challenges in robotics today. It’s an ambiguous and iterative process, so we’ve worked hard to create a team environment where collaboration and creativity can flourish, and where people always feel comfortable bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the table.
The Everyday Robotics Project is looking for a unique, audacious, yet humble individual to lead a growing hardware team with a mission to build machine learning powered robots that can help people in their every day. The role is a member of the leadership team and reports to the CEO / Project Lead.
The candidate must be a recognized technical leader, team builder and manager who has successfully led and shipped complex, at-scale hardware projects, including advanced computer architectures, machine perception and mechatronics. A robotics background is strongly preferred. Since nobody has succeeded in doing what we are trying to accomplish, the candidate must be comfortable with ambiguity and have a creative, collaborative and curious mindset.
