Makani is developing energy kites that use a wing tethered to a ground station to generate clean and efficient energy from wind (www.makanipower.com). We are looking for an entry level mechanical or aeronautical engineer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to solve interesting and challenging problems on a regular basis. Makani’s primary facility is located in Alameda, CA.
We’re looking for a systems engineer with a strong focus on power electronics and power conversion, to work with a small, focused, and fast paced team in the design selection, specification, and implementation of all power systems involved in the Makani Energy Kite. You must be willing to spend a majority of your time at this facility. Some travel to test sites may be required.
Work will include:
-Careful construction of power system simulations
-Determination of system fault modes, and modeling of complex system behavior in the case of faults
-Design and implementation of experiments to benchmark and test expected system behavior
-Defining clean and organized interfaces between parts to maximize both system and team performance
The ideal candidate for this role will be broadly talented, but will have significant technical depth in a highly relevant field.
